Storm Season Preparations for Hoffman Realty's Landlords
The Atlantic Hurricane season begins June 1st and ends November 30th. At Hoffman Realty we have a plan based on What Hoffman Realty Learned during the 2004 Hurricane Season. However we can't do it alone, we need you, our Landlord, to also make some storm season preparations. Here is what we ask:
|
|
Before Storm Season
Contract with an Emergency Services vendor
This is a very important proactive approach to storm damage response where you retain the services of an Emergency Services vendor, well in advance of any storms, so they can plan and invest in material and resources ahead of any storms, and provide emergency damage response after a storm. If there are no storms or your property is not damaged there is no costs for their services. If there is damage, they work with you and your insurance company to be reimbursed for their expenses. For more information on why it is important to retain an Emergency Services vendor, see What Hoffman Realty Learned during the 2004 Hurricane Season. Contact us for details on our approved Emergency Services vendor.
Review Insurance coverage
Review your insurance coverage with your agent to ensure you are adequately covered. Send Hoffman Realty the latest copy of your hazard insurance (and flood insurance) declaration pages so we have it on file.
Update your contact information
Make sure Hoffman Realty has all your latest contact information. You can update it yourself on your Landlord Portal or you can call or email us.

|
During and After a Storm
Don't call us
We respectfully request our Landlords DO NOT contact us by telephone to get updates on the storm or how your property fared. This ties up our telephones preventing emergency communications. Please be patient and wait for us to contact you. We will post general information through our website / Landlord Portals, and communicate owner specific information by email. For more information on why we ask you not to contact us, see What Hoffman Realty Learned during the 2004 Hurricane Season.
When we do contact you - please respond timely
Please monitor your email regularly and check your Landlord Portal. Respond timely to damage reports, estimates and request to forward information to your insurance carrier. Assist us by following up on claims with your insurance company.
Allow us to make decisions regarding your tenants
In the chaos and damage following a major storm our property managers will have to make many difficult decisions, in the field, in real-time. Not only to protect and preserve your property but also for the health and safety of your tenants. We expect that we may need to relocate tenants, terminate tenancies, abate rents, refund security deposits and other actions without time to obtain your input or approval.
